Guaranteed issue versus medically underwritten
Some plans accept everyone without health questions, while others ask about your health in exchange for broader coverage. If you are leaving a group plan, there may be a conversion option with a time limit. Ask about it before your coverage ends.
Government programs
Federal and provincial programs, such as OHIP+ for eligible young people and the Canadian Dental Care Plan for eligible residents, may cover some costs. I’ll consider what you are already eligible for so you don’t pay twice.
Coverage descriptions are general. Your policy wording, limits and exclusions determine what is covered. Availability and premiums vary by insurer and by your circumstances.
